Thoracic Surgery Fellowship
The Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Montefiore-Einstein Medical Center has an unexpected opening for its 2 year traditional ACGME thoracic surgery residency to begin Oct 1, 2018. The traditional fellowship provides an intensive experience in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery and pediatric cardiac surgery. The program performs over 1000 adult cardiac operations annually and includes training in advanced coronary revascularization, minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery, TAVR, valve repair, aortic surgery, heart transplantation, ECMO and LVAD. The thoracic surgery division is home to one of the busiest lung transplant programs in New York State. The 5 month rotation also provides extensive exposure to minimally invasive techniques, pulmonary resections and benign and malignant esophageal disease.
Applicants must have completed a 5-year general surgery training program by the time they begin the fellowship, and be Board-certified or Board-eligible. In order to be considered for this ACGME accredited position, applicants must be U.S Citizen/Greencard holders or H-1B visa holders.
Foreign medical graduates with equivalent qualifications who have completed the USMLE exams and hold a valid ECFMG certificate are also eligible to apply for consideration in a 2 year non-ACGME accredited role.
